Low back pain is one of the most common cause of missed work in America, and the second most common reason people go to the doctor, just behind upper respiratory infections. Most all low back pain is due to a mechanical problem (misaligned bones) in the spine and/or pelvis.
In rare instances it can be due to inflammatory arthritis, infection, fracture or cancer. When there is a misalignment in the low back or pelvis, it creates pressure and tension on the muscles and nerves which then causes the pain.
In bad cases, sometimes the pain can even travel down the leg into the thigh or foot. This is generally called sciatica. This pain is usually on one side or the other, not both.
A gentle chiropractic adjustment restores proper alignment to the spine or pelvis and relieves the pressure off of the muscles and nerves. This allows the body to heal and get rid of the pain.
